Peter Lau is a New York based portrait photographer and visual director whose work exists between fashion cinema and portraiture.
Influenced by both Asian aesthetics and Western editorial imagery his portraits are recognized for their cinematic light emotional restraint and refined visual language.
With a background in advertising campaigns celebrity portraiture and fashion editorials across Asia his work approaches portraiture not simply as documentation but as an exploration of identity atmosphere and presence.
Over the past two decades he has photographed artists families children and public figures developing a distinctive body of work shaped by emotion modernity and visual storytelling.
Selected collaborations include artists public figures and brands across Asia and New York including Eason Chan Jacky Cheung Simon Yam Pinko SKAP and Erdos.
I found Peter Lau Photography through Instagram and shared the style I wanted. Peter, a celebrity photographer, understood right away and even introduced me to an amazing makeup artist. We did a fashion street photoshoot in Central Park and the streets of Manhattan, combining high-end style with natural, candid moments. I’m not great at posing, but his guidance made everything effortless and comfortable. The photos turned out romantic, full of texture, and exactly the mood I had imagined. His Flushing, NYC studio also offers beautiful indoor sessions, but street photography will always be my favorite.
